Lead Data & AI Scientist

Rapperswil & Remote / Full time

Job Description

Are you fascinated by the intersection of data, Artificial Intelligence, and the energy transition?

We specialize in turning raw smart meter and home energy data into personalized, human-centered engagement. Our software-only, no-code platform empowers energy retailers to understand and engage households, prosumers, and flexumers. We rely on advanced Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring (NILM) and Human Activity Recognition (HAR) technology to deliver actionable intelligence and load-shifting automation without requiring additional hardware.

We are seeking a highly autonomous Data & AI Scientist to take full ownership of our Data Science and AI department. In this position, you will have immense freedom and the necessary resources to shape the strategic direction of our core Intelligence and Automation services. You will work in a dynamic, Azure-native environment, applying your expertise to revolutionize how smart meter data is utilized.

What we offer
  • Complete responsibility for the AI and Data Science department.
  • Huge freedom to experiment, choose the right tools, and implement innovative solutions without bureaucratic bottlenecks.
  • The opportunity to build a product that directly facilitates load shifting and energy efficiency on a wide scale.
  • Work with a clean, Azure-native architecture designed for scalability and cutting-edge machine learning operations.
Responsibilities
  • Lead, define, and scale the Data Science and AI department with significant freedom to establish technical roadmaps and architectural standards.

  • Design, train, and optimize advanced AI models, specifically leveraging NILM and HAR, to extract actionable insights from raw smart meter data.

  • Analyze large datasets and develop statistical models to drive data-based decision-making for energy retailers.

  • Collaborate closely with the engineering team to seamlessly deploy models into our production stack (Azure, AKS, MLFlow, KServe, CosmosDB, LakeFs).

  • Create visual representations of complex data and analytics, making results understandable and accessible for our clients and internal stakeholders.

  • Continuously evaluate new technologies and methodologies to improve the efficiency and accuracy of our Household Profiling and Engagement Services.

Requirements
  • Completed degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a related field.

  • Advanced proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL, alongside proven experience with LLMs and modern machine learning frameworks.

  • Deep understanding of statistical methods and data analysis, combined with the ability to solve complex, novel problems independently.

  • Strong technical leadership capabilities, with the ability to clearly present technical results and collaborate cross-functionally.

  • Proficiency in both German and English.

  • Bonus: Familiarity with our existing tech stack (Azure, Kubernetes, MLFlow) or experience within the energy sector.
